Just to add...
...Ariel is an Archangel whose name means 'altar' or 'Lion of God'; he is the Angel of Healing and New Beginnings. Very apt for mental health insiders, who put healing at the top of their wish list. However, if you're schizophrenic like me, the best you could hope for is a new beginning without stigma. Miranda x

Why Ariel? From Carmen
It sounds to be a bit of a cliche - liking Sylvia Plath and being mentally ill. However, I thnk it is because the imagery she used in her poems have an affinity with the mental ill health experience.
'Ariel' is one of her most famous poems, and can be found in 'Collected Poems' The imagery is dark and forceful:
And I
Am the arrow,
The dew that flies
Suicidal, at one with the drive
Into the red
Eye,the cauldron of the morning.
That was just the last bit of the poem - Look it up for yourself if you want to read more!
This morning when I woke, drowsy with the hangover from pills, my mind was full like a cauldron. What should I do with my future, am I going to be ill again, are things ever going to be better? Having a mental illness can be hard especially when the outside world is so unforgiving.
Hopefully my day will be ok today - once my red eyes and druggie looks improve!

A Quick Hello from Miranda
Not my real name of course! I am new to blogging and wondering how much I'll get done if on tablets that give me something called 'somnolence' - a side-effect that is the opposite of insomnia so I feel like snoozing a lot even during the day. Carmen and I are both mental health 'insiders'. That means we have bona fide mad certification!
One of our objectives is to try and combat the stigma associated with mental ill health, in my case paranoid schizophrenia, by talking about our experiences. I have been sectioned for instance, and it's not as bad as it sounds - people must think you're a danger to the public if you're on a section, but mostly it's to stop you being a danger to yourself, or in my case a danger to my poetry. (I recently destroyed over 200 poems I had written because I thought it was more likely that I would be hospitalised if I didn't).
Am reaching for the matchsticks just now, so will sign off; will write soon.
